He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. – Luke 6:48

Notice a previous post (Dig Deep). We need to set the foundation of our life on the Rock of the Word of God, so that we can stand when the floods of life try to shake us. But how do we actually dig deep? Keep this process as simple and honest as possible.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. – Psalm 139:23-24

  1. Ask the Lord to show you where your life lines up with the Word of God, and where it doesn’t. God knows us better than we know ourselves. So ask Him. It takes some humility and a willingness to be honest, but He loves us enough to show us. Why? God wants to lead us in the way everlasting!
  2. Ask God what changes you need to make, in order to be in line with His Word. To be more specific, ask the Lord to show you what changes to make in your attitude, thoughts, finances, relationships (family/friends/significant other), and how you spend your time.
  3. Ask God for strength, wisdom, and an heart that obeys Him. Let God lead you.
  4. Trust God, and do what He has shown you to do. Take action.

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. – Proverbs 28:26

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, I can trust you. I ask that you fulfill your Word to me today, which is found in Psalm 143:8: Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. I ask you to show me where I am walking in your Word, and where I am not. I also ask you to help me to live your Word in every area of life. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
